LITERACY ESSENTIALS

Improve literacy at your school.

Together, we are on a mission to improve literacy within our state. Throughout the year, we plan to share research-supported instructional practices that could make a measurable positive difference in your school. The first idea is focused on small group and individual instruction using a variety of grouping strategies.

You can use a variety of grouping strategies for your small groups:

  1. reading level-based
  2. needs-based
  3. interest-based
  4. paired
  5. random

The groups are formed and instruction is based on children’s observed and assessed needs in specific aspects of literacy development. Click here to learn more about reading levels on the Fountas and Pinnell blog.
