How We Continue Education at Choice Schools

Choice School Associates pose for a picture together at the Montessori Model Conference

Choice Schools has had a busy fall hosting and attending several conferences all rooted in student-focused growth and development. We believe in and support our educators who are dedicated to expanding their knowledge and talents through continued learning opportunities throughout the year. Choice has set out to support our staff by providing the resources they may need to create a more effective learning environment for all our students.

Three events we would like to showcase are:

  • Montessori Conference
  • Office Manager Training
  • GSRP and Kindergarten Team Meeting

Montessori Conference

Choice hosted its first annual Montessori Model Conference at Creative Montessori Academy in Southgate, Michigan. Staff from all of our network Montessori schools around the state were in attendance, and spent their time in break-out sessions that ranged from subject-specific lectures to classroom communication and technology use. The opening game was inspired by the old game show, Legends of the Hidden Temple and was modified to Legends of the Pink Tower. School leaders Shanina Draughn (Macomb Montessori Academy) and Lisa Loger (CMA) of the Silver Scientists Team took home the win!

Office Managers from our communities across Michigan gathered for a day of education and connection at Davenport University in Lansing. The team shared their expertise during informative breakout sessions. We also had the opportunity to tour the Michigan State Capitol with Alicia Urbain and Marianne Fant from MAPSA. The tour not only showcased our beautiful capitol building but we also learned about its rich history and how some of the actions that take place within the capital impact students and Charter Schools.

Another important training was the meeting of our GSRP and Kindergarten teams at New Branches Charter Academy, West Michigan Academy of Environmental Science, and Three Oaks Public School Academy. This training’s cornerstone was on the Pyramid Model, a framework of practices that promote young children’s healthy social and emotional development. This session focused mostly on creating a classroom environment that supports that development, and we look forward to furthering these educational sessions into next year.

GSRP and Kindergarten staff from our schools go over the Pyramid Behavioral Model Kindergarten and GSRP staff do activities in the training room together for their annual meeting.

As 2022 comes to a close, we are proud of every member of our staff. Their continued dedication and support is so important as we approach the new year. They, much like their students, have been finishing strong and we appreciate their efforts in continued training and learning.
