Choice Administrator Named a Finalist for Regional Accolade Honoring Charter School Administrators

Congrats - Ali DuBois Top 5 Finalist

Ali DuBois, school leader at Muskegon Montessori Academy for Environmental Change, is now in the running to be recognized as the 2020 Michigan Charter School Administrator of the Year in MAPSA‘s annual MI Charter School Awards. DuBois is currently in the top 5.

“That is remarkable and speaks to Ali’s leadership and ability to create a school culture that has guided MMAEC to become one of the leading academic K-8 schools in the Muskegon area,” said Board Liasion Stan Rathbun. “No detail is too small, or too far in the future, not to be thought through and aligned with the school’s vision and mission. I couldn’t be prouder of her and her team.”

Ali DuBois is completing her sixth year as the Head of School at Muskegon Montessori Academy of Environmental Change. Before taking on the Head of School role at MMAEC, DuBois was a teacher at West Michigan Academy of Environmental Science for five years.

Every year, MAPSA’s Charter School Awards provide a platform to highlight outstanding administrators and educators in Michigan’s charter schools. Hundreds of nominations were received for this year’s awards. To be considered for this award, MAPSA receives anonymous nominations from members of the school communities to recognize those who are going above and beyond.

“I have the honor of serving the most amazing staff and school community. This recognition by MAPSA is truly humbling and is a representation of the team and our commitment to the success of all the students we serve,” said DuBois. “I’m so thankful for the recognition but know that the strength of our staff is what guides our success.”

Two additional individuals from Choice Schools Associates were also recognized in the awards. Alan Bosker, secondary principal at West Michigan Academy of Environmental Science, was named a 2020 MI Charter School Administrator of the Year award semifinalist and Rachel McKenna, a second-grade teacher at West Michigan Academy of Environmental Science, was named a 2020 MI Charter School Teacher of the Year award semifinalist.

The 2020 Michigan Charter Schools Awards recipients will be announced in May 2020.
