Every week during the school year, the Michigan Lottery selects one outstanding educator to receive the Excellence in Education award. The award includes a $1,500 cash prize and a $500 grant to the educator’s classroom, school or school district.

Every year, Michigan Teachers awards 20 teachers a full program scholarship. The following scholarships include Teacher Certification Scholarship, Paraprofessional & Substitute Teacher Scholarship and Full Year Basic Substitute Permit Scholarship.

The State of Michigan Department of Education annually recognizes outstanding teachers through the MTOY program. Each year, 10 regional teachers of the year candidates are selected through a two-part application process, with one of the 10 teachers being named MTOY.
