End of Year Beginnings 2024

End of Year Beginnings 2024

We stumbled upon The Philosophy of Charles Schulz, the Creator of Peanuts, and couldn’t help but connect it with the crazy feeling that the end of the school year can bring. As parents, educators, board members and partners, we hope you take a step back and reflect on this year and can find inspiration in Schulz’s philosophy of life.

We encourage you to take a moment to ponder on the statements below. Don’t overthink them or search for the answers; just read and reflect:

  • Name the five wealthiest people in the world.
  • Name the last five winners of the Miss America pageant.
  • Name ten people who have won the Nobel or Pulitzer Prize.

Schulz points out that we often don’t remember yesterday’s headliners. These individuals are not second-rate achievers; they are the best in their fields. Yet, the applause fades, and awards tarnish.

Now, ponder these statements:

  • List a few teachers who aided your journey through school.
  • Name three friends who have helped you through a difficult time.
  • Name five people who have taught you something worthwhile.

YOU—those working, volunteering and supporting education—are the ones students and families will remember. you will be the one a child brings up at a dinner table. You will be the one a child thinks about as they drive past the school over the summer. You are the one who made a memorable impact. You are a difference-maker!

As we close the 2023/24 school year, know that your dedication, passion, and hard work have not gone unnoticed. Thank you for everything you do.
