Choice Schools Associates recently named Alan Bosker, principal of West Michigan Academy of Environmental Science in Grand Rapids, as their 2021-22 Choice Leader of the Year. Bosker started working for Choice Schools over 6 years ago and immediately started making a lifelong impact on his students from day one.

The Choice Leader of Excellence of the Year award is based on nominations from school staff and other school leaders in the Choice Schools organization. Choice Schools Associates manages a total of 16 schools across the state of Michigan, and specializes in making academy boards’ dreams of a high-performing school a reality.

Mr. Bosker lives and breathes the Choice Schools mission of partnering with school communities, empowering and equipping them to fulfill their unique missions. His devotion to West Michigan’s culture is driven by putting students first, expecting greatness and teamwork.

Not only have test scores improved since Bosker’s time at the school, but he also implemented many other new and exciting changes for students’ sake. Working with staff, students and parents brings him joy, and he appreciates the passion and dedication that he can inspire in his staff, his fellow school leaders and his students.

Alan Bosker shared, “I appreciate the relationships we’re establishing and I’m going to encourage us to lean on one another to make things easier. I love talking about the world we live in, and it’s been great to know that we’ve all evolved so much.”
