Congratulations to Stan Rathbun on his retirement!

Thank you, Stan for 12 wonderful years at Choice Schools

This moment is bittersweet as we celebrate a special man in our Choice Schools Family, Stan Rathbun, as he is officially retiring after 12 great years of service.

Stan’s accomplishments here at Choice are more than a list. He has shaped the future of countless different schools throughout Michigan and those he has served as board members and as leaders over his storied career.

A leader is best when people barely know he exists, when his work is done, his aim fulfilled, they will say: we did it ourselves,” by Lao Tzu says it best of the work that Stan does. When he retired from serving as the board liaison to the WMAES board, he stated that he was so proud of how far they had come along and that hardly anyone knew who he was. There are so many projects that boards dreamt of and Stan has made them come to be.

Stan’s wisdom, kind heart and hard work have had a huge impact on our organization, but most importantly the many families at the schools with whom he worked. Stan’s impact on many of the schools we work with was felt by all. The groundwork that he has developed in boards and his leaders will impact students and communities for many more years to come.

As Stan starts another chapter in his book that he should someday write, seriously he should, we are so excited that he gets to hunt and fish without being interrupted by a phone call, find a space with service, and then call back six times because it dropped. Those uninterrupted hours will seem quiet at first, but they are so well deserved.

We have always appreciated the way Stan would talk with beaming pride about his family, his wife, children, siblings and nieces. He always has a fun story to connect you to his world, and it makes you feel special to be part of. His servant heart will be missed, his impact forever felt, and we are beyond grateful for all you have done for Choice Schools.

Stan, thank you.
