Character Choice – Integrity

Throughout the month of February, we focus on the character trait of integrity. We define integrity as being honest and trustworthy. Honesty is something that we emphasize to our children every day.
You are probably wondering how do we teach and encourage integrity as teachers, maintenance staff, bus drivers, office personnel and parents? The best way to teach integrity is to show it to each other in all of our interactions with other adults and kids. Using the word integrity and holding others accountable for using behaviors of integrity creates a culture of trustworthiness and lessens kids thinking that it’s “okay” to bend the rules. A great book for how to have these discussions with kids is Changing Kid’s Lives One Quote at a Time.

Together, we can create a culture that we are all proud of!
