Earth Week 2016 at Choice Schools Associates

If you were to walk into one of our schools last week during Earth Week, you may have noticed many Earth-friendly initiatives happening to make our environment a better place.

From turning the lights out to plastic bag competitions and campus cleanups, our schools were busy making a difference in their communities for our planet Earth.

Take a peek at what our schools were up to during Earth Week…

At Macomb Montessori Academy, a new greenhouse was unveiled and a tree was planted. Their greenhouse will not only allow students to expand their study of science to the outdoors but will also allow them to experience hands-on lessons within a natural environment. The students and staff are excited about providing garden plots to their community as well.

New Branches Charter Academy celebrated all week long. From conserving energy and supplies, to creating a rain garden, students and staff worked extra hard to create a more environmentally-friendly school campus.

In addition to the clean-ups, the Pre-K classrooms contributed by planting Morning Glories on the school property and Upper Elementary students made recycled art.

Currently, our three environmental schools are competing in the “2016 Recycle Mania Contest.” The school that collects the most plastic grocery bags will receive a school bench made entirely out of recycled materials.

Good Luck to West Michigan Academy of Environmental Science, New Branches Charter Academy and Muskegon Montessori Academy of Environmental Change! May the best recycler win!
